Never-before-heard interviews direct from the
'80s
I recently discovered these recordings of my interviews on old
cassette tapes lurking in the bottom of a desk drawer. The recordings
were made on a cheap cassette recorder, often in noisy surroundings,
sometimes over a crackling phone line - so don't expect the best
of quality. All the same, if you really want to hear how the stars
sound 'in real life', now's your chance....
DIVINE
In this 1984 interview I talked
to Divine in a bedroom of the London house of fashion designer Zandra Rhodes...
Divine ::
Eating Doggie Poo! (00:55 mins)
Don't listen to this if you haven't eaten yet! Here Divine tells me about
the notorious poo-eating scene in the film, Pink Flamingos, Yum....
Divine
:: The worst dressed Stars (00:50 mins)
From Bette Midler's terrible dress sense to Boy George's big 'ass' (?),
Divine makes a list of '80s fashion victims....
Divine
:: His Epitaph (01:39 mins)
How does he want to be remembered? Well, surprisingly, not for causing outrage.
Divine reveals a softer, more sentimental side to his nature....
ABC - MARTIN FRY
Excerpts from a Martin Fry phone interview from 1986....
ABC
:: Hanging on the Telephone (00:33 mins)
Ah, the glamour of being a pop music interviewer! This is what it's
really like, folks. Was Martin Fry so mean that he wouldn't even
pay for the phone call? You decide....
ABC
:: The New ABC (1:00 mins)
OK, so on with the interview. And first we find out all about
the big changes in ABC. Two band members down and two to go...

Wham! go to China but ABC go to Japan. Martin gives us the lowdown
on Tokyo and Barnsley and why the two towns are so similar!
ABC ::
Live On TV (2:10 mins) Strange happenings on The Funky Tomato and other Japanese and
American TV shows. Plus Martin's views on TV commercials.

Luck (0:57 mins)
Gambling on luck in Las Vegas, Martin explain why he loves the outrageousness
of the neon lit city in the desert.
Style (1:41
mins)
Bigger, bolder and brasher, Martin gives his views on naked style
in the UK. As an added bonus, listen to that wonderful, authentic
phone interference. Ah, those were the days....
