every proper interview I did back in the '80s, I must have written
about a dozen 'fact files'. These are the fillers that end up padding
out the pages of the teen mags. They are generally very boring
to do - but, from my point of view, they were also the difference
between being in credit or in debt. The fact file here is an amalgam
of several Nick Heyward fact files which I sold to Blue Jeans,

when Les dared me to take my trousers off. And I can't resist

| When was your most embarrassing
day? |
The time I flew around school with no clothes on.
OK, I admit I didn't really fly. But I did used to dream
about it quite a lot and I always woke up feeling dead embarrassed. |

day? |
I got locked in a fridge in Bermondsey once. Somehow
the fridge got sold to a rag and bone man and by the time I got
let out it had been taken all the way to Glasgow. |

At
least, Nick Heyward could always be relied upon for a few good
quotes. He was a bit like Toyah in that respect. If Nick or Toyah
hadn't done anything interesting, you know that they would make
something up. A music journo's dream interviewee...
